Cosori Lite 2.1 qt vs Instant Vortex Mini 2 qt: the two one-person air fryers, on the makers' figures
Two baskets within a tenth of a quart of each other and two very different machines: a 900 W, 4.9 lb Cosori that is quiet enough to list a decibel figure, and a 1,300 W, 7.3 lb Instant that is the narrowest body on the counter. Which one suits a studio kitchen comes down to three numbers — width, weight and the low end of the temperature range.

Nine inches wide, 11.3 deep and 11.7 tall. Width is the number that matters between a toaster and a wall, and the Instant is the narrowest machine on our shortlist. It is also the tallest of the two by more than an inch, which only matters under a cabinet rail.
Strengths
- 9 in wide — fits a 10-inch gap of counter
- 1300 W heats the small basket quickly
- Four one-touch programs, no dials to learn
Limitations
- 2 qt is one portion; two people cook twice
- 7.3 lb, heavier than its size suggests
- Dishwasher claim comes from the listing, not Instant's page
Good for
- a studio apartment or dorm
- one person cooking sides and snacks
- a second air fryer for a vacation home
Look elsewhere if
- two main portions in one round
- whole chickens or anything over about a pound

Ten point one inches wide with the handle, 8 without, 8.3 deep and 10.5 tall. It is wider across the front and three inches shallower, so on a narrow cart or a galley shelf it is the one that does not overhang; on a strip of counter between appliances it is the one that does.
Strengths
- 4.9 lb — lifts out of a cabinet one-handed
- 900 W is the gentlest load on a shared kitchen circuit
- Two-year warranty, the longest in this group
Limitations
- 900 W means a slower preheat than 1300–1750 W rivals
- 2.1 qt is still a one-portion basket
- Handle adds 2 inches to the width
Good for
- a dorm, RV or small apartment kitchen
- someone who puts the fryer away after each use
- late-night cooking in a shared flat
Look elsewhere if
- cooking for two in one round
- anyone who wants the fastest possible preheat
Weight and noise
The Cosori weighs 4.9 lb, the Instant 7.3. That is the difference between a machine that lives in a cabinet and comes out nightly and one that stays on the counter. Cosori also publishes a noise figure, under 48 dB; Instant publishes none. For a studio or a shared apartment, those two numbers decide it.
Power and temperature
The Instant’s 1,300 W element preheats faster than the Cosori’s 900 W and runs the same 400°F ceiling. The Instant’s range starts at 120°F, the Cosori’s at 170; the low end is for reheating pastry and drying herbs, which the Cosori does less well. On a shared 15-amp kitchen circuit, both leave room for a coffee maker; the Cosori leaves more.
Cleaning and warranty
Cosori says the basket and crisper plate are dishwasher safe and gives a two-year limited warranty. Instant’s page says neither; the dishwasher claim for the Vortex Mini is on the Amazon listing, which we mark pending, and no warranty is stated.

- The counter is nine inches wide, and it stays there: Instant.

Which one is quieter?
Cosori publishes a figure — under 48 dB — and Instant does not. A 900 W machine with a smaller fan is quieter than a 1,300 W one as a rule, and Cosori putting a number on it is the closest thing to evidence either page offers.
Which one cooks faster?
The Instant's 1,300 W element preheats a 2-quart basket faster than the Cosori's 900 W, and its range starts at 120°F against the Cosori's 170, which matters for reheating and dehydrating, not for fries. At 400°F both finish a tray of fries in the same quarter-hour; the difference is the first three minutes.
Which parts go in the dishwasher?
Cosori says the Lite's basket and crisper plate are dishwasher safe on its own page. The same claim for the Instant's basket and tray appears on the Amazon listing, not on Instant's product page, so we mark it as pending.
Which has the better warranty?
Cosori states a two-year limited warranty. Instant's product page does not state one for the Vortex Mini. That is a point for Cosori until Instant says otherwise.
